Second english day unites students in a day of creativity and language practice

Last Friday, August 16th, we celebrated our second English day, led by 10th grade. During this event, several activities were proposed to engage students to speak and practice English. The first activity carried out was the Bosque bee, an activity carried out in the auditorium where students had to spell different words according to their level. These students were selected during the last English classes due to their great performance at spelling the words from a list made according to their language level. In the English day, students from preschool, primary and high school competed against other grades until only one winner from each category remained. At the end of the round, they were rewarded by a participation certificate.
After hosting the Bosque bee, 4th, 5th, 6th and 10th grades made some performances that they prepared during English classes. In first place, 10th grade presented a remake of a Phineas and Ferb episode in a video format. 5th grade presented a live performance of a talent show, where students sang, danced, and exposed some dialogues. 6th grade presented a live performance, showing the changes in generations. Finally, 4th grade showed a video, in which they presented a shadow show about the movie ghostbusters.
Once the presentations were done, students were led to different stations, made and led by tenth graders, in which primary and high school students were meant to use English. The stations proposed were mimics, memory game, obstacle race, art gallery and snakes and ladders. Students had to rotate to every station, that lasted 25 minutes. These activities helped students use their English skills in writing and speaking, mostly.
This English day was full of creativity, commitment and innovation. Students were highly engaged participating in all the different activities. They all had fun playing, but most important, this was an opportunity to practice English.
