Celebrating Friendship Day: Students Pen Heartfelt Appreciation Letters
Friends’Day is a special occasion that celebrates the bond of friendship and the value of meaningful connections. In a heartwarming gesture, students from Colegio del Bosque Bilingüe came together to commemorate this day in a unique and touching manner. Instead of traditional celebrations, they decided to express their gratitude and appreciation through handwritten letters. These letters were not only directed towards their classmates but also extended to their beloved teachers, acknowledging their guidance and support.
Expressing Gratitude to Classmates:
Students were excitedly writing down their feelings and thoughts for their friends. Every letter was a combination of the treasured times spent together, the difficult times and the good ones.
For many students, this activity provided an opportunity to express their appreciation to friends who might not often hear such words. In a world dominated by digital communication, the act of writing a letter brought a sense of sincerity and authenticity to their expressions of gratitude.
Fostering a Culture of Gratitude:
In addition to expressing gratitude towards their peers, students also took the time to write letters of appreciation to their teachers. These letters were filled with words of admiration and gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance provided by their educators. From inspiring lessons to moments of encouragement, students highlighted the profound impact their teachers had on their lives.
The act of writing appreciation letters not only strengthened the bond between students but also fostered a culture of gratitude within the school community. It served as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging the contributions of others and nurturing meaningful relationships. As one teacher reflected, "Receiving these letters was incredibly touching. It reaffirmed the reason why I chose this profession – to make a positive difference in the lives of my students."
This was also a wonderful opportunity for all the students, regardless their age for example, in preschool, Friend's Day was more than just a celebration; it was a whirlwind of excitement and camaraderie. With colorful paper and glittering pens, we poured our hearts into crafting heartfelt letters for each of our friends, spreading joy and affection with every stroke of our crayons. But it didn't stop there. We extended our gratitude to our beloved teachers, showering them with letters of appreciation through carefully crafted cards overflowing with gratitude. With each activity, we immersed ourselves in English vocabulary, weaving words of love and friendship into our creations, fostering a deeper understanding of the beauty of connection and the power of kindness. On the other hand, second graders did not fall behind. Kids wrote letters and, as they love grammatical categories, the used the words: friend, friendly and friendship; yes indeed, while listening to our friendship playlist with the famous song Sonríe más by Mikecrack. High school grades took the opportunity to reinforce their vocabulary and to show their writing skills in the second language.
Eleventh graders were also in charge of recollecting funds for another school event. They were in charge of distributing some goods and also organizing the secret letters event in which students could send letters to different people in the school.
To sum up, this was a wonderful occasion that brightened everyone's day.
